Ackronym Inc: Things aren’t going so well for Young Managing Printers, also known as YMP. A recent decline in membership has them scratching their heads at a rebranding phase that is heavily needed. As a result, they now are known as Professionals in Print & Media (PPM). They hope to build networking, training and communications skills among younger members of the print industry.

Ann Drayton, PPM national chairman, wrote:

“In order for the YMP to remain viable and grow again in the future, we believe that there is no choice but to rebrand our offering and as such I take great pleasure in announcing that with immediate effect the YMP will now be known as PPM (Professionals in Print and Media). This will give us a greater catchment area to target membership and fits with the changing emphasis of our industry.

I stress that we do not want to forget our history, but to build on its strengths and move it forward. I hope that you will join me in this challenge and do all that you can to make it a success.”

Ackronym Inc: Recently, Roman Polanski has made headlines with his new comedy, “Carnage”, in which Kate Winslet’s projectile vomiting wasn’t even the biggest laugh. Overall the reception to the film was positive, and Oscar-winners Winslet, Christoph Waltz, and John C. Reilly were at the annual cinema showcase to promote the movie as well. Jodie Foster, a two time Oscar winner, did not attend the press conference in Venice. Yahoo! news describes the plot pretty well:

Power couple the Cowans visit the home of liberal writer and campaigner Penelope Longstreet (Foster) and her down-to-earth salesman husband Michael (Reilly) after their children are involved in a brawl.

What begins as a civilized exchange about the incident turns into an increasingly passionate sparring match between the two couples and later between the men and women.

Drink, and relationship problems buried deep, mean cruelty rises quickly to the surface, although comedy is never far away.
